Effective 19 July 2026.
This policy explains what The Briar Rose Company (“we”, “us”) collects when you use thebriarrosecompany.com, why we collect it, who else receives it, and how long we keep it. It describes what this site actually does — not a generic template.
Information you give us
- Order and account information — name, email address, billing and shipping address, telephone number, the contents of your order, your order history, and (if you create an account) your username and password.
- Enquiries — the name, email address and message you submit through our contact form, and any correspondence you send us by email.
Order acknowledgment records
Our products are supplied for Research Use Only, and checkout requires you to acknowledge specific conditions of sale. Because those acknowledgments are a compliance record, we retain evidence of them with every order. That record includes which acknowledgments you confirmed, a snapshot of the exact wording shown to you at the time, the name you typed as your signature, the date and time, the IP address the order was placed from, and your browser’s user-agent string.
We keep this because it evidences the terms you agreed to. It is not used for marketing or profiling.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we and our providers automatically receive your IP address, device and browser type, referring page, and the pages you view. Some of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Payments
We do not store complete payment card numbers on our servers. Card payments are processed by Cleffo, our card processor of record. Where bank-account payment is offered, it is processed by eDebit Direct, which uses Yodlee for bank-account verification and linkage. When you pay, the payment details you enter are transmitted to and handled by these providers under their own privacy terms.
Transactional email — order confirmations, shipping notices and replies to enquiries — is delivered through Resend, which receives your email address and the contents of the message. We do not currently operate a marketing email programme. If we begin one, it will be opt-in and this policy will be updated before it starts.
Analytics and advertising
We use Jetpack (Automattic) site statistics, which records page views and basic information about your visit and sets its own cookies.
Integrations for Google, Reddit, Snapchat and TikTok advertising are installed on the store but are not currently active. No advertising pixel or tracking identifier from those platforms is loaded on this site, and no information about your visit is sent to them. If we switch advertising tracking on, we will update this policy and put a consent choice in place before it starts.
Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the store (keeping your cart and session), cookies used by our caching layer to serve pages quickly, and the site-statistics cookies described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but the store will not function correctly without the necessary ones.
Who else receives your information
- Payment processors — as described above.
- Fulfilment and shipping — the name, delivery address and contact details needed to pack and deliver your order, together with the carrier that transports it.
- Email delivery — Resend.
- Site statistics — Jetpack (Automattic), as described above.
- Spam and security filtering — Akismet, which processes contact-form submissions to detect spam.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database on our behalf.
- Legal and safety — we may disclose information where we are required to by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
How long we keep it
- Order records and the order acknowledgment record — seven (7) years from the date of the order, consistent with tax and commercial record-keeping and with the period in which a dispute over the sale could arise.
- Account information — for as long as your account is open, and then deleted on request.
- Contact-form enquiries and correspondence — twenty-four (24) months.
- Server and security logs — twelve (12) months.
- Analytics and advertising data — retained by each provider under its own schedule.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of targeted advertising or of the sharing of your information for that purpose. Texas residents have these rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act; California residents have comparable rights under the CCPA as amended; other states have similar laws.
To make any of these requests, email info@thebriarrosecompany.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them. Note that we may be unable to delete information we are required to retain, such as completed order records and the associated acknowledgment record.
You can also limit advertising tracking through your browser settings, your device’s advertising controls, and the opt-out tools each advertising provider offers.
Security
The site is served over encrypted connections and access to order data is restricted to accounts that need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is not directed to children, and our products are not sold to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
